December 2009 Student Newsletter Andy: Wow! You have come a long way since the summer. Your desire to master the guitar shows in your practice and lesson preparation. Just great! Keep at it. Alberto: We've gotten over the rough patch you had a couple months ago. I'm pleased that you stayed with it. Your playing is like that of a different person. Great! You should be pleased with your advancement. I am. Blair: I'm extremely pleased with your progress. Your strength is that you practice diligently. Your weakness is that you can be distracted from the technique or work at hand. I attribute this to that you are bright and think about a lot of musical ideas. That's good, but you have to learn to harness it. Chayah: I know that your college classes and grad school prep doesn't leave you much time to practice, but try to get some time in whenever you can. You have done so well and it's a joy to teach you. Danielle: You are doing wonderfully!! Keep putting in your practice time. Don't you love the results??? Dylan: I am so glad to be working with you. I enjoyed your sisters too. Your lesson preparation is always great. You're progressing very well. Keep up the great work. Gary: You're coming along very well. I know you put in the time practicing. With more work on rhythm, you will become a better rounded musician. Jason: You are practicing more than last year, which is great. You need to work on EVERYTHING you're assigned. I want you to be the best guitarist you can be. So, do the "boring" stuff whole-heartedly and you'll be amazed at how your playing will improve. Melissa: Despite your recent illnesses, you're on a good path of practicing and being prepared for your lessons. Keep up the good work and stay healthy. Merav: I love your tenacity and determination to play well and understand! Just keep doing what you're doing. Olivia: Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! I expect nothing less from you and I always get it. Your playing and understanding are advancing beautifully. Keep up the great work. Omer: Everything gets more challenging as you progress. You're doing very well, but don't let difficult music frustrate you. Dig in. Be determined. Master it. Remember: there are a lot of average guitarists out there - you can be a monster player if you exercise care and self-discipline. It's up to you. Sam: Your limited time makes practice hard to fit in, but you have to find a way to get to it - even if it's for less than the optimum amount of minutes. Some is better than none. I'm confident you can find a little more time in your daily schedule. Shifra: You need to practice more! Recently, your innate ability has kept you moving ever so slightly forward, but you could be progressing if you could manage your time a little more efficiently and practice more. Sibi: I'm really pleased with how you're improving and how determined you are. I like that you keep working on difficult techniques until you conquer them. I wish some other students had your drive. Good work! Talia: You're doing fabulously! Your playing is progressing beautifully and I really enjoy how much "you get" musical ideas and how willing you are to tackle difficult music. You go girl!
