April 2009 Student Newsletter

Adam: Welcome! You're putting in plenty of practice time and on your way.

Andy: You have slacked off a little and are not observing rhythm as consistently as you should. You were playing a little better last month. Try to recapture that discipline.

Alberto: You have increased your practice time and it's really paying off for you. I think your plan of a little morning and a little evening practice is working beautifully. Don't you love the results??

Blair: You're doing great. Keep your eye on the prize, which is becoming an accomplished guitarist. All the other short term goals are okay, but not at the expense of the biggie.

Brad: Welcome! You have made terrific progress in these few weeks we have been working together. You would do even better if you would do the written work I assign :-)

Danielle: Excellent work! Your sight reading is improving and I like your attitude toward new or challenging music. Everything esle is just terrific.

Dylan: You've been off several weeks over the past 2 months and I had to miss a lesson, too, so we need to get back on track with lessons and practice. Overall, you're doing very well. Try not to miss practicing daily.

Gary: Rhythm is getting much better. You're beginning to really hear and feel it. That's what we're after.

Jason: Your set list is coming along, Jason. I'd like it if you didn't memorize initially, and became very familiar with the music before you commit what you're playing, to memory. It will offer you more comfort and options under the stress of performance. Keep your June goal in mind.

Melissa (Fair Lawn): Welcome! You're doing just great. If you continue to apply yourself, you're going to go far with the guitar.

Melissa (Westwood): I know it's hard to practice when you don't feel well, so seize every good day and be sure to spend time with your guitar if at all, possible. Your playing has been progressing really well. Keep up the good work.

Merav: Terrific. You're tackling harder and harder music and I like that you don't shrink away from the challenge. Excellent. Keep your inquiring questions coming.

Olivia: You are a delight to work with and are doing excellently. I hope you're enjoying the music on which we are working.

Omer: I'm glad you're improving and beginning to climb up from your plateau. The word I want to you notice is CLIMB. That's not a passive work. There's effort involved. Your progress will have a direct relationship to the amount of serious effort you put in. Effort is not a favorite thing for many people, but it's absolutely necessary in order to do anything really well.

Sam: Wow! In the past 2 months, can you believe the difference in your playing, now that you can fit in more practice time?!? If I'm not mistaken, you've been in the Spotlight a few times. Congratulations! Don't let optional things get in the way of your practice.

Shifra: Sorry you had to discontinue your lessons. I hope you'll play when you can and I hope to see you back in the future.

Sibi: Sorry you had to discontinue your lessons. I hope you'll play when you can and I hope to see you back in the future.

Talia: You're doing great! Your brand new room is a great place to practice and the time you're putting in has resulted in you moving ahead beautifully. Keep it up!
